Work to begin soon on Delhi metro phase three
construction of Delhi metro phase three, linking Mukundpur with Yamuna Vihar and Janakpuri West with Noida Botanical Garden, is to begin soon. The anticipated cost of the project is rupees 30,000 crore.

The work on Delhi Metro's third phase, with an anticipated cost over Rs 30,000 crore, will commence in the next few weeks, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said.

"With the completion of the Metro's third phase, the colonies in Delhi will become closer to each other," Dikshit said at a public rally in Tri Nagar area of west Delhi.

Confirming the news on the Metro's work, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson Anuj Dayal said that "the work will be starting in the next few weeks".

The third phase of the project was approved by the Delhi government on April 11.

The new lines in the third phase will link Mukundpur with Yamuna Vihar and Janakpuri West with Noida Botanical Garden, reports IANS.

Three existing routes will be extended: The Badarpur-Central Secretariat line up to Kashmere Gate, the HUDA City Centre-Jahangirpuri line up to Badli and the Dwarka-Noida line up to Najafgarh.

According to Dikshit, 67 stations will come up under the 108-km third phase. Of this, 41 km will be underground and 67 km will be elevated.
