First of its kind in monitoring service delivery
The Government of Maharashtra is the first state to set up its own Delivery Monitoring Unit. The unit sits under the chief minister's secretariat and is designed to monitor and evaluate the functioning of its departments.

Following footsteps of Prime minister Manmohan Singh's initiatives at the Centre, the state government too has set up its Delivery Monitoring Unit for monitoring, evaluation and functioning of each of its departments. Successful implementation of this system should help in creating basic infrastructure services, increasing employment opportunities and alleviating poverty.

“Maharashtra has always remained ahead in implementing development works and various schemes. This system will prove beneficial in order to reach schemes to maximum number of people and for positive evaluation of development works”, said chief minister, Ashok Chavan. “Every department for setting up their objectives has prepared a vision document. With the help of vision document, objectives of every department will be clear and necessary steps can be taken up to achieve these” said Chavan.

The unit has been set up in chief minister’s secretariat. “Maharashtra is the first state in country to start this system. “The state by taking up this challenge of monitoring and evaluation will give succor to common man” added, Chavan.
