FIRs to be available online in Delhi
February onwards, FIRs registered in New Delhi can be downloaded from the Delhi Police’s official website. Any accused will be entitled to get a copy of the FIR from the police station by just paying Rs 25.

New Delhi: Getting a copy of the First Information Report (FIR) will now be just a click away from the mouse in Delhi.

All new FIRs registered in the National Capital can be downloaded from February 1 from the Delhi Police’s official website.

By just paying Rs 25 an accused can get a copy of the FIR from the police station.

The move comes following a direction by the Delhi High Court on December 6 last year when it said that an accused is entitled to get a copy of the FIR within 24 hours of its registration and police cannot deny supplying it.

The court had directed the Delhi police that the FIRs should be uploaded online within 24 hours of its registration.
However, it exempted the police from making public FIRs on sensitive issues.
