Assam government to distribute laptops among meritorious students
The Assam government in partnership with HCL will provide 7200 units of laptop to meritorious students of the state who have secured First Division in the HSLC, High and Senior Madrassa, Sanskrit and Pali Pravesika examinations in 2010.

IT hardware firm HCL Infosystems today said it has received a multi-crore rupee deal from Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (AMTRON) to provide 7,200 units of its brand of laptops.

HCL Infosystems will be partnering with the state government to provide HCL ME Laptops, HCL Infosystems said in a statement.

The Education Department (Secondary) under Government of Assam will be awarding laptops to honour meritorious students of the state.

AMTRON will distribute these laptops across the district headquarters of Assam to all students who have secured First Division in the HSLC, High Madrassa, Sanskrit and Pali Pravesika and FM (Senior Madrasa) Examinations, 2010.

"We congratulate the Government of Assam for this unique model to award meritorious students and inspire them to actively make use of technology. We look forward to continue our association with this initiative along with many more to come," HCL Infosystems President and COO JV Ramamurthy said.
