Assam: e-Udyog to encourage entrepreneurs
The initiative is launched to simplify the process of application and subsidy claims under industrial policies. The online system will generate accurate economic data and prove cost and time effective.

Guwahati: Assam have launched an initiative called ‘e-Udyog’ “to create transparency, promptness and increased efficiency in governance with the support of Information Technology” and help doing business easily.

The state Industry Minister Pradyut Bordoloi recently launched the project which is aimed at making functioning of the department faster and hassle free. The online system will generate accurate economic data, reduce response time of the department and be convenient for the enterprises to file the applications due to certainty of delivery.

“As we are taking up many steps for speedy industrial development and generate employment and development, there was an urgent need to incorporate hassle –free mechanism to attract investors and entrepreneurs,” an official said.

While states like Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have taken up e-Filling of forms but only Assam has included nine other activities. Few more activities would be incorporated into the e-Udyog.

Officials of the state Industry and Commerce Department said the initiative was taken based on the feedback, which the department got from different parts of the country.

The aim of e-Udyog was to create systems easily accessible by an entrepreneur, besides streamlining and simplifying the procedures for various applications and subsidy claims under North East Industrial Policy 2007 and Assam Industrial Policy 2008.
