Management Information System for release of NREGA funds
The Ministry of Rural Development is set to introduce a Management Information System software to speed up the process of funds approval for NREGA. The software will generate performance reports and alerts to enable timely flow of funds.

States have often complained of delays in release of funds from the centre hitting their NREGS implementation.

However, with the rural development ministry introducing a state of art Management Information System (MIS) software, the states' grouse may just get addressed.

States can submit proposals under the scheme online, saving time spent in postal delivery. Delays brought about by slow movement of paper proposals during srcrutiny at different levels can also be avoided.

The software will generate performance reports on mandatory physical and financial parameters as well as alerts to enable programme rectification by the district planning committees based on MIS report.

The new MIS has many unique features:

  • As soon as a district spends 50% of the fund, the software alerts the district on documents and perquisite for the second installment. It will list the requirements for the second installment to enable the district planning committee to comply with all those before it reaches 60% to become eligible for the second installment.
  • If all the conditions are fully met and 60% of the fund is utilized, the proposal will automatically get submitted to the state headquarter. The state will accordingly accept the proposal online and release the funds to the district from the state reserve fund.
  • If the conditions are not met, the proposal will not get submitted and in that case it will list out all the deficiencies.
