e-Complaint facility for Mumbai
The Maharashtra government has proposed a pilot project to enable online registration of offences in Mumbai. The e-complaint system will register a complaint within 24 hours with the person's name and mobile number for identification.

Lodging a complaint against any offence would be a click away for Mumbai citizens, as the Maharashtra Government has decided to launch an e-complaint system for the city.

Chief Minister Ashok Chavan today announced starting of the e-complaint system which will enable an online registration of any offence.

A person can register a complaint on the website of the police with his name and mobile number for identification.The complaint will be registered within 24 hours and the person will get receipt of it, an official said.

The Police Commissioner's office will oversee if the complaints have been addressed by the concerned police station or not, he said.

Maharashtra will be the first state to provide such a facility and the pilot project will start from Mumbai, the official said. The police will also get training to handle e-complaints, he said.
