Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi launched Rastriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan, RMSA, at a function in Guwahati today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gogoi said, his government is committed for the development of education sector.
AIR correspondent reports, the objective of the mission is to provide a secondary school within a radius of 5 kilometer and a Higher Secondary school within a radius of 7 to 10 kilometer of every habitation. Another aim of the mission is to ensure universal access to education for children in the age group of 14 to 18 years.
Assam government has decided to provide better infrastructure facilities so that quality education can be provided. An additional 2198 classroom, over 1000 science and 901 computer laboratory will be constructed in the current financial year. Apart from it, vocational training will be given under the mission in 60 higher secondary schools in IT and Retails Management courses.
