On the basis of recommendations made by a Committee set up by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to make the civil services examination more relevant,the main exam will now give more weightage to the General Studies Papers I and II.
Finance Minister announces an increase in agriculture credit

The agriculture credit target for the next fiscal year has been increased to INR 7 lakh crore with an emphasis to boost industrial production. The total funds allocated to the Agriculture Ministry have also been raised by 22 percent.
Parliament passes Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Bill

It is mandatory for all workplaces to have an internal redressal mechanism for sexual harassment complaints, which must be decided upon in 90 days failing which a penalty of INR 50000 will be levied. Safeguards against false charges are provided for.

Set up by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd under MoU with Indian Railways, it would meet demand of 9000 Mainline Electric Multiple Units (MEMU) in next 10 years. Ministry of Railways will give assured off-take orders to BHEL to make the project viable.
