Summary:

This practice impacts upon health services to ordinary people in Haryana. Haryana is a successful state as far as its economic performance is concerned but the health services have not been able to catch the attention of reformers in governance till recently. It combines technology, service delivery and people’s participation in making health facilities accessible to all citizens. In doing so efforts have been made to bypass conventional administrative hurdles such as apathy, ignorance, centralization of service delivery systems, many windows to service delivery and embedded corruption in civil hospitals and primary health centres. It has also been claimed that this best practice has provided a sustainable and consistent health provisions to citizens in Haryana while bringing discipline in the medical fraternity in the State also.
