This project named ‘Cross Cutting Agra Project’ aims at engaging women and youth from the slum communities for promotion of livelihood, sanitation and overall economic up gradation of these communities. Agra, the Historic City, which is also called as Taj City has large number of historical monuments. There are some slum areas near the Mughal Heritage Sites which even lack basic facilities. Earlier the women in these communities were engaged in rolling inscent sticks and use to get Rs. 3.50 on rolling per thousand sticks which is very less. This project has mobilized these women and young boys in capacity building programme and has generated employment in the community through promotion of tourism. It further aimed at creating gender awareness in the community by organizing gender awareness programmes from time to time. This project has also started sanitation services in the communities by creating self-help groups. This is overall a multi-purpose project.
It is an outcome of multi-stakeholders. This has aimed at empowering these communities economically by organizing community groups for promotion of livelihood and for amelioration of the conditions of the urban poor.
