This practice initiated by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has improved the lives of the poor in terms of economic, environment, social and cultural components.
Under this initiative, basic civic services were provided to the citizens; parks and roads were constructed, and improvements were undertaken in the water supply and drainage system.
In addition, new building rules were devised for rainwater harvesting; waste water recycling and efficient solid waste management was established.
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has operated a huge variety of services and activities for its citizens through the usage of ICT tools and achieved speed access of delivery system with greater transparency and accountability.
